Are You a Part of the Team?
(1 Corinthians 12)

This chapter is FILLED with so much wisdom and truth, but I feel that 1 Corinthians 12:12 sums it all up very nicely.

1 Corinthians 12:12 – “For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.”

As believers we have ALL been chosen to be part of the body of Christ. We are his church. Knowing this, how could any of us refuse to take advantage of this precious gift? Yet so often, we don’t realize and accept that God gave us all a significant purpose in this Christian race. Instead, we tend to get discouraged as we start to compare our Christianity with others. Maybe we feel we are not spiritual enough or bold enough. We may possibly even think that our gifts and talents could never be good enough to use for Christ. Maybe we feel it is worthless to even give what we have. All these things will keep us from accomplishing all the beautiful plans God has for our lives.

Now verses 4-6 read,
“Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.”

This is SO important to understand! God has given each and every one of us a unique and specific purpose. We can’t spend our lives comparing our life, talents, and abilities to those who may appear to have it better. Everyone has been assigned a special task, along with their own God-given gifts. We are ALL playing on ONE team for ONE Lord! And that’s Jesus Christ!

We are all capable of doing something great for God. God doesn’t see us as “the one who sings for Me”, “the one who plays an instrument for Me”, “the one who preaches for Me”, “the one who teaches for Me.” The list goes on. He sees us all as servants! We are His servants and are called to serve in several different ways. You may not have what someone else does, but NEVER belittle your duty on the team. We are all important and influential to God’s service. Don’t back out because of fear or pride.

Think of Christ as our “Head Coach.” We are His “team” and He’s counting on us to work together, as one body, to win the “game.”

Are you going to simply watch from the sidelines?
Or will you CHOOSE to be a part of the team?
